ABOUT JOY, BIRTH DOULA
I’m Joy - a birth and postnatal doula based in Cheshire. I support people through pregnancy, birth and postpartum with calm, evidence-based care that centres your voice, your identity, and your experience.
My approach is rooted in personal understanding: it took two difficult, medicalised cesarean births before I discovered the power of informed, supported choices. With two healing homebirths and a doula by my side, I realised this was the work I was meant to do.
Today, I support parents across Cheshire and Staffordshire through everything from VBAC preparation and birth trauma recovery, to feeding support and postnatal care. I offer in-person and remote doula packages, one-off consultations, and biomechanics-based birth preparation.
Alongside my doula work, I lead the Maternity and Neonatal Voices Partnership for Leighton Hospital. This role gives me a unique perspective on the maternity system and the barriers many families and staff working in the units face, particularly those from marginalised communities.
Working closely with local midwives, obstetric teams and service users has deepened my understanding of what safe, equitable, and compassionate care should look like - and what still needs to change.
Whether you’re preparing for your first baby excitedly, navigating loss, or seeking support after a challenging experience, my role is to hold space, offer tools, and walk beside you with care that’s truly centred on you.
I attend births in Cheshire, Staffordshire, Shropshire & Greater Manchester within a 1 hour radius of my home. If you aren’t sure whether I cover your area, or live a bit further afield, please get in touch with your intended place of birth and I will see if we can make it work, it just comes down to whether I can get to you when it’s time to have your baby!
