birth
At the centre of my work as a birth coach and doula is the belief that birth is a physiological, normal function of the pregnant person’s body. We have been taught not to trust our bodies, that our innate ability to give birth is a medical event that must be managed. I believe that with the right mindset, with good quality evidence-based information, and continual emotional support, giving birth can be an empowering and life-changing experience. It's when we own our birth and consciously make informed decisions surrounding our care, we can have full autonomy of our bodies, our births, and our experience. Giving birth brings forth our innate power and wisdom which most certainly carries forward and sets the tone for our postpartum journey ahead.
WHAT THE DATA ON HAVING A DOULA SAYS
26% less likely to give birth by cesarean section
41% less likely to give birth with a vacuum extractor or forceps
28% less likely to use any analgesia or anesthesia
33% less likely to be dissatisfied or negatively rate their birth experience

Acknowledging your fears, and bringing them to the surface so that you can replace those images and thoughts with positive and evidence-based information, we will use our antenatal sessions to prepare you fully for your birth and the postpartum journey ahead. Because I have seen the way unnecessary interventions can greatly interfere with this intuitive, normal, and natural process, I am passionate in working with people who are interested in making informed choices and are prepared to take responsibility for themselves in preparation for and during their birth. As a 2HBA2C (home birth after cesarean) mama myself, and having worked with other ‘high-risk’ parents I am passionate about supporting you in birthing YOUR WAY, out of guidelines or within.
My approach to care is straightforward, and I believe that by applying the philosophies in my birth toolkit, namely knowledge, movement and nutrition, you will set yourself on the trajectory to brilliant birth.
